Wind Turbines: Bird Enemy #1?

Even for birds who do see and avoid wind turbines, each detour costs birds a substantial amount of energy that may just be life or death for their migration. While it's important that we applaud efforts for greener energy, we also need to be critical in assessing other impacts on ecosystems and wildlife, and not see systems in isolation!
